#NYFW: CALVIN KLEIN SPRING/SUMMER 2013

New York Fashion Week came to a close - but not without good ol’ Calvin Klein showing these young-in’s how it’s really done. This season, Klein stays on trend utilizing very minimal color and really focused on cut and structure - designing pieces that look as if they are magically staying together. A collection perfectly tailored for the new age business woman.

Alice + Olivia SS2012
A beautiful collection which - just for the record - wasn’t all black and white, but it’s so rare to see black and white done just right, isn’t it?

3.1 Phillip Lim RTW SS2012
Even though I loved to look at this collection inspired by fine Italian gelato, it’s so not my cup of tea I had to choose two looks of the very rare blacks! But it doesn’t keep me from loving Phillip Lim till the end…

Christian Siriano SS2012
I thought I should post some of the New York archives before the Burberry stills get published online…

Due to Project Runway, I always kept an eye on Christian Siriano, but this collection of his featured quite a few flawless gowns and dresses. It was a real task to pick just three.

BCBG Max Azria ready to wear SS2012
This BCBG collection had great potential to become today’s favourite as it begun. The dresses featured beautiful colour-blocking - definitely not from the bad kind - simple but decorative geometric cuts, and a couple of excellent colour combinations. Where it all went wrong was the appearance of patterns… It could have been done right in my opinion, but the patterns were simply too much combined with the otherwise carefully selected colours, and it all became… difficult to digest, let’s just say.

Nicholas K ready to wear ss2012
I really loved the palette, even if it’s not really eye catching, I think it reflected the style of these loose, casual pieces very nicely.  Some essential spring/summer whites mixed with sand followed by soft, deeper blues and greens combined with grey. One thing I did not like about this collection was the women’s shoes: I can see the purpose, but personally, I can’t wait to get rid of these slouchy high heeled ankle boots - sandals hybrids. All in all, I’m loving the layering, the super thin looking cardis and scarves, and the belts with tassels.

Mik Cire, Spring 2011, New York Fashion Week

I forgot to reblog some snapshots when it was time to, but I found an old to-do list today with Mik Cire on it, so I thought it’s a sign. Even though I’m no fan of loose menswear, I have to admit that this collection was effortlessly sexy. Also, Tobias Sorensens appearance was a pleasant surprise.
I’m gonna get back to this, but I’m writing an essay on political order after the ww2, eww.
